Connecting the Dots: A Deep Dive into Refreshable Braille Technology

Empowering Independence Through Wearable AI
This proposal outlines the potential of Meta AI Glasses to enhance independence, accessibility, and quality of life for individuals with low vision or blindness, as compared to other low tech/high tech devices.

Learning Braille Through Play with Lego Bricks
LEGO Braille Bricks is a playful concept to teach Braille. It ensures an optimal teaching and learning experience that empowers children to become creative, engaged, lifelong learners. Participants will acquire sufficient concept knowledge to be ready to try it with their students.
Play nurtures and develops the breadth of skills that enable us to be powerful agents of our own lives and positive contributors to our communities. The LEGO Braille Bricks concept thus presents a groundbreaking and inclusive opportunity to teach blind and sighted children alongside each other by offering a fun and playful way to engage, interact, and learn.

Math Manipulatives For All Learners At All Levels
Join us for a hands-on demonstration by Jim Franklin, teacher of special education, who invented a number line to help students round numbers up to 10,000,000. View a variety of math manipulatives that address the standards of fractions, decimals, money, elapsed time, weight, and capacity. Learn tips and strategies, such as adding and subtracting mixed numbers with different denominators and then reduce answers without paper and pencil, that are applicable to all students, including students with visual impairments.

New Tools from APH to Support Braille Learning
This session highlights innovative technology from the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) designed to strengthen braille literacy and access. Participants will gain an overview of products that support braille reading, writing, and digital engagement, including the Monarch and PaigeConnect. In addition to exploring the features of these products, the session will address instructional considerations and practical applications. Join us to explore how APH technology is shaping the next chapter of braille access.
